Welcome to Lucky Fins Swim Company! The Lucky Fins Swim School was founded and developed by Tara Quinn in February of 2017, a resident of Mars, PA. We are a northern Pittsburgh swim lesson company offering affordable group and private lessons in a safe, educational environment!
Our Mission: To provide a fun, learning atmosphere for children to develop into confident, capable swimmers.
Our Vision: To provide a safe, loving, and affordable swim program in our community. To teach boys and girls the confidence to love, enjoy and respect the water.
About Owner, Tara Quinn:
Tara is a seasoned swimmer with 30+ years of swimming experience, 15+ years of coaching and private lessons instruction. She has coached young children in several swim leagues and provided private instruction at Fairview and Villa Maria in Erie, Pa and Shaler Area in Pittsburgh. Tara has worked with children as young as 6 months, up through teaching adults how to swim.
Tara started her swimming career at 7 years old for Shaler Area Aquatic Club. She swam competitively through high school and into College. Tara swam and played water polo for Gannon University (Erie, PA) where she was a record holder and top two female finisher in the GLIAC. Her specialties included butterfly and the individual medley. Tara earned her B.S. Marketing and Master of Public Administration (MPA) from Gannon University, but has always had a love for swimming.
Tara recently was honored as a member of the Gannon University Athletics Hall of Fame for her career as a goalie in Water Polo. Her swimming and water polo career were recognized in her earning the spot as a 2018 Hall of Fame member.
Now with two young children of her own, Tara saw a need for affordable, convenient group lessons in her local area of Mars/Cranberry. While instilling the love of the water into her own children, Tara has decided to offer her education and passion for swimming into others. She still works full time as a Director of Account Management for a legal software company while also teaching swim lessons and help coaches her daughters softball team.
Tara is a certified lifeguard through the American Red Cross. She has created a program that follows her years of experience teaching students starting with basic life-saving skills while building swimming technique.
